Faith’s Frequently Asked Questions
What is Faith’s baptismal policy?
Lutherans most commonly have infant baptism. However, baptism can take place at any age.
Faith has baptized infants, youth, and adults. We believe that baptism is a public profession of the individual’s or parents’ commitment to Jesus Christ. We currently perform baptisms during our worship services to allow the whole gathered community to participate and celebrate with the baptized. The baptized will be joining the universal Christian church, not just this individual congregation, so we don’t require membership here to participate. We do recognize all Christian baptisms and are willing to rededicate if desired, but we believe in one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We do ask that the individual or the parents have a short instructional meeting prior to the baptism. Please contact the office for further information.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.
And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20 NRSV
“There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the
one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.”
Ephesians 4:4-6 NRSV
What is Faith’s wedding policy?
In addition to weddings involving members, we do allow for non-member weddings on an individual basis. The sanctuary is limited to 120 for seating. The pastor strongly recommends indoor weddings to limit the weather variables but is open to the couple’s individual desires. We do ask that the couple meet with the pastor first to determine if they want to proceed here and then schedule six one-hour premarital counseling sessions prior to the wedding. The state of Minnesota charges a substantially discounted license fee with proof of counseling. If you would like more details of our wedding philosophy/policy please click on this link.
What is Faith’s funeral policy?
In addition to funerals for members, we do allow for non-member funerals on an individual basis. The sanctuary is limited to 120 for seating. The pastor has also officiated at funerals in other locations. Please contact the church office for further information.
What is Faith’s communion policy?
We celebrate the Lord’s Supper during each worship service. We have an open table which means that all who believe Jesus Christ as their Savior are invited to participate. There are no requirements other than this. Children are invited to come forward for a blessing during this time and when they reach the age of an increased curiosity are invited to receive instruction in the meaning and the practice of communion. If they receive communion in their home church they are welcome to receive it here. Please just ask them to hold their palms up in front of them. We offer both wine and non-alcoholic juice and will offer a gluten free wafer if asked.
Is Faith handicap accessible?
We are happy to offer a church building that is handicap accessible. Park right by the front door in one of our many handicap-only spots, and come right into the building and sanctuary without negotiating stairs or an elevator — it’s all on one floor.
